I'm not taking the fobs in to the dealer for them to rip me off. Can anyone tell me how to reset them myself using the diagnostic connector in the engine bay. Pl.e.e.e.a.a.ase
South Korean automaker Kia has been producing popular cars, vans and sportutilityvehicles since 1944. As an added measure of convenience, Kia offers a keylessentry system on many of its vehicles. Before you can operate your Kia's power locks with the keyless entry fob, you must synchronize the fob to your vehicle. Difficulty:ModerateInstructions
Things You'll Need:
22 gauge jumper wire, 2 feet long
1 Open the Kia's hood and locate the diagnostics connector panel behind the vehicle's battery. Note that the DC panel is underneath a plastic cover labeled "Diagnosis." Pull gently on the cover to remove it. The diagnostics connector panel includes three rows of connectors. The first two rows have eight connectors, while the third row has only four.
2 Insert one end of your jumper wire into the seventh connector in the second row of the DC panel. Attach the other end of the wire to the positive terminal on the vehicle's battery. Leave the jumper wire in place until the programming process is complete.
3 Sit in the driver's seat and close all the doors.
4 Insert your key into the Kia's ignition cylinder. Turn the ignition to the "On" position without starting the vehicle.
5 Hold down the "Lock" button on the keyless entry fob for approximately three seconds. The dashboard lights will turn off to confirm successful fob programming.
6 Remove the jumper wire and replace the plastic diagnostics connector panel cover. Close the hood to complete the fob programming process.
